How do I ask for a promotion?

This one feels straightforward on the surface - promotions start with asking. And, “You don’t get what you don’t ask for.” But underneath that is a conversation about value: the value you’ve created and the value you’re willing to claim. Start with the value you’ve brought and your readiness to articulate it. In my experience, generally, the worst that can happen is you hear “No” or “not at this time,” and even that teaches you something. The real question is: what’s stopping you from stepping into the conversation?
